The Ice Whale
In this film, two students explore the behavioral biology of the Beluga Whale. To start they review a series of scientific projects carried out at a seaquarium, and then they swim with a wild pod of belugas in the arctic. They find the beluga to be one of the most playful of all species, and also one that is capable of complex social learning. Along the way, the skill with which these whales manipulate both jets of water and bubble shapes set a tone of joy and wonder.
